A purple gloxinia and a pink frangipani

I asked him for a peach coloured rose plant.

Instead he brought home a purple gloxinia and a pink frangipani all the way from the sg buloh nursery.

Apparently the nursery man told him he was out of roses and recommended the two plants instead.
But i had a funny feeling their conversation went a bit more on that which i was not getting.

ANyway, I tucked both into one corner of my budding rose garden and did the needful watering and left it at that.

3 months later my roses are flailing with frequent attacks of alphids and black spots which im still battling. Instead the gloxinia and frangipani are flourishing unaided.

Apparently a gift of gloxinia means love at first sight and frangipani have many sacred meanings including turning up at tombs, does that make any difference? sigh... trust my man to turn things around full circle, not that he probably realised it himself anyway i think.... sigh

Typical .
