Herb garden

7 weeks later...

I have a few new members to my herb garden family. This is called pokok cermin (Jermin-pelargonium radula) of African origin. A very strong scent emanates from it that it is claimed to repel mosquitoes, hey, it nearly repelled me.. so why not!! More of indoor species the nursery man said, but is there indoor in the wilds?

Aruvadham pacchi in Tamil (rutagraveolensl rutaceae)- ayurvedic herb for healing baby bowel problem and also for colic problems. Basically gentle herb for all sorts of baby health problems. Another fragile specie, no direct sunlight i was advised.  I was also advised by my neighbour that this is a sacred plant in hindu households and there are some do's and dont's to adhere too. Eg, dont simply give it away, if someone asks for some leaves, make sure you pluck it yourself and that also for certain timing and it must be exchanged for a bit of cash. And to keep it in a very clean place and not to touch when you are having menses. Oh well, i dont mind obliging as long as it doesnt go beyond reasonable lenghts. So i moved it to a quite little place and am giving it extra attention.

Thai jasmine flower variety, no fragrance but looks so pretty i cant resist.

A double hibiscus (hybrid) in red, gorgeous, isnt she?

I got momsy to carry down seven new stems of a real surreal purple variety, now all planted in a pot waiting to root, keeping my fingers crossed!

Orang and yellow marigolds, what a sight for sore eyes, literally. Auspicious vibes for home as per vastu shastra. But they dont last long, 2 months most of blooms and they naturally dry out and new plants grow from seedlings. So dont be alarmed when they suddenly grow spidery webs and drop dead.

Age old beauty. Roses. Enough said. My challenge tho is finding out what is drying up my rose buds even before they can bloom.

The two tone variety my daughter bought for mother's day from Jusco shelves. After the first many blooms, the plant started to die a little, yellow leaves and all. I was challenged. Checked with Mr Google and i moved it to a shadier spot, kept watering it nice and fertilised and sprayed and after 3 weeks, walla!!! So many buds and so totally fulfilling!.

This rose starts as a purple hue and turns into fuschia under the sun.

The multi petal beauty and yes, the damn leaf eating insects are at it again after traumatising my jasmine plants for weeks. Ya ya, i know they are part of the eco system but do they hv to maul my tiny garden?

Not sure what this flower is called but is used for poojas.

The man claims our dog has a nike logo on its butts?

Divine scents in bloom after weeks of green worm attack on its leaves. I nearly had to chop off the whole plant to get rid of the worm eggs. But they are resilient and grew back fast with plenty of TLC.

Ah, can you gauge green fingers by how healthy your curry leaf plant is? :)
