Penang...

Come school holidays, little one starts getting all restless and wanders about the house, looking 'lost'. There is only so many hours Backyard Science of TVIQ can sustain... and not too long before grandmother starts screaming about kitchen supply being depleted for those little science experiments. So a quick away time is needed to preserve sanity from all sides..especially with two long weeks to go. This time it was decided 3D3N of Penang therapy will do the job.

All new dresses must be photographed...it's an understanding.
Talking about the dress, it's ridiculous how a location can change the price of a dress. I bought this for her for just RM12.90 in the clothes shops in Baling. Then i saw the same one going for RM35.00 in one of those tourist trap stalls in Batu Ferringi. And later the same dress was going for only RM5.00 at the Kek Lok Si stalls. Wow!

All strapped in and ready to begin the day ..a bit of sightseeing, the grin says it all!

First stop, Penang Butterfly Farm, a quick drive away past Teluk Bahang after Batu Ferringhi

Butterflies, butterflies ..dreams of butterflies.. those nature's flamboyant works of art were all over the place.. quite used to humans by now. Wanted to take more pics but with Singaporeans, Japanese, Hungarians and old American couples on the retirement trips swarming the places as well..not to mention the kids.. kids.. gosh ... the squeezing and scramblings.. oh well..

Caterpillars, pupae, even scorpions, snakes and horse shoe crabs..Kois, turtles and Mandarin Ducks.. Lizards.. beetles and insects later.. a keepsake under the big beetle structure i forget its name.. some giraffe something .. i think.

Strangely though, we came back yesterday to find the same beetle.. only live.. in the kitchen window.. did it follow us home???

Next stop, Kek Lok Si temple in Ayer Itam.

Only managed to capture the 2 storeys out of this 7 storey Pagoda.

This 4 Buddha shrine was my personal favourite. Very restful.. a balm for the soul.

Climbing those stairs in sweltering heat, sweating profusely, apparently, gives your skin a pearl finish. Or maybe it was yesterday afternoon's long soak in highly chlorinated water in the pool...maybe the cocktail or two...

We rushed to Penang Hill nearby.. only to be told at 4pm that there was only 7.30pm tickets left for the cable train and that was going to be the last trip for the day Apparently we needed to book early but none of the tourist brochures stated that little information. Oh well.. next time. Done for the day.

And on the final morning, God decided to gift us with this amazing sunrise to bid us farewell. Back to real life now!
