Pulut Kacau (wajik)

By this time post Diwali, many are on sugar overload ... but I still have some pics left of all the goodies .. so here goes!


Momsy's specialty, the sure bribe that keeps 'em coming back for it year after year. The glutinous rice is steamed just enough and not soggy like the average wajik...then stirred in bubbling/spurting brown sugar and very thick coconut milk till it crystalises to harden some rice grains, hence giving it extra bite. But somehow no one else been able to 'get it' just right. Trust me, over the years, I've seen some (desperate) people stand by the stove to keep watch of any other secret ingredient..but no. Maybe it is in her touch!
