By some twist of events, i found myself being dragged along for a trip to Genting Highlands (i really was not in the mood for travelling). But since it was a paid trip excursion by the local MIC and my mom had registered us weeks ahead, i couldnt cancel but follow. I told myself it was only two days and i can get through it and who knows, get to enjoy it....I ended up having quite a blast! And having a 6 year old with me who insisted that she had to try out all the 25 rides, Corksrews and you have its, i had myself seated in roller coasters to hell (yes, my heart stopped for a few second, it must have). Children...they have a way of coercing you to do things sometimes even 60 year old grandmothers. The grandmother also found herself unwittingly standing in line for 30 minutes among teenagers and clueless adults like me but then the funniest thing happened. The last minute, as we neared the coasters, my mother freaked out at the closer view of the Corkscrew with the its 360 degree bend and decided to take the easy way out. Not bothered that there were at least 100 over people probably watching her, she jumped over a railing, handbag in one hand and a plastic full of oranges in the other and ran for her life. For me frankly, that was the highlight of the whole event. The woman behind me, barely unable to control her chuckles, remarked, "She decided not to do it, is it?" Even as i write this, my tummy still twists with mirth as the images of my 60 year old mother jumping over metre high railing keep coming back to me. By the way, my daughter, didnt flinch a muscle throughout the whole ride while i had a near death experience! Never again!Im there with you, mom!
And of course, the cable car/Gondola/Skyway ride is another story all together.
