5 things they don't teach you in school

I posted this on The Star Online and received the usual comments.

A very young person, a new graduate, asked me recently, "What should i do with my life... the world is so &@#% messed up?" I found that myself saying this to him "unlearn that has been taught to you that doesn't make any sense and re-learn to do it yourself, only better". Then as i thought about it later, I had these to add as well.

Lesson no. 1 - Not all rich people are bad and poor people nice.

Remember those moral stories read to you in childhood, about rich, evil misers and really saintly humble poor? Most likely, a sour grapes wrote it. I've met very nice very good rich people and i've met very bad very nasty poor people too. So dont generalise or stereotype or walk around with rigid preconceptions.

Lesson no. 2 - "You can be my baby no matter if you're black or white!!!" Sang the same guy (RIP) who couldn't decide whether he was black or white and eventually ended up all grey with too much bleach and oxygen. That's it! Got it? Grey. There is no right, no wrong.. its alll in perception... you could kill a person and decide it's not wrong coz he deserved to die, see? Why, even the legal system murders people and declare it legal. Kapish? So don't beat yourself up too hard about it...as long as your conscience is clear.

Lesson no. 3 - You CAN make mistakes. Whether your are 17, or 70... so go easy on yourself eh! Just dont repeat it if you can, especially if it has stupid repercussions.. like rollerblading on a handle rail down a step, you know what i mean or if you don't, watch an episode of Video Zonkers (AXN)!

Lesson no. 4 - You CAN lie. You will learn very soon everyone does it and many get away with it and some make a living out of it.. like Politicians and Advertisers and Media and the Health and Medical industry. So why they teach you not to lie in school? Beats me. It's mean actually bringing children up in false, ideal notions when the world is not. Learn to lie to your advantage and try not to hurt, if it hurts you too.

Lesson no. 5 - Sex is no more evil than religion. Sex is natural, religion is man-made. Sex is about liberation, religion is about control. Control is good sometimes but not to the point of suppresion. Complicated? Go and figure it out. Stay healthy. Stay safe. Stay happy.

How does Kalaiselve become more adventurous all of a sudden? Never mind, let her be, but what would happen to her innocent students when they answered their Moral Science paper using the knowledge acquired through a teacher like her.

There is nothing like REASONING in Moral Science. So white is white and you can explain when the VIBGYOR rays completely reflected we see the white light and when absorbed we see the black. that is it.

Kalaiselvi, A teacher should be a teacher who should teach what is completely researched, proved and approved. We have to keep our whims and fancies to ourselves.

Rejoice with your students...

Sentulwest... and then there were messengers of God..

Oh hail, Queen of morality, the Highness Lakshmiregu! Wake up woman, your students know more about morality then you will ever do. What happened to Life being the Greatest Teacher anyway!

I happened to find this a thought-provoking post.

Keep writing, Kaleiselvi.

kaleiselvi71,

"...religion is man-made."

You've made a conclusive statement, so can you now please list all the evidences that can help prove that your statement is indeed a true statement.

Hi kalaiselvi71,

Life and its experiences are the greatest teacher, I agree with you.

The torture and pain human get after those sins have been committed is intolerable and always poking us from some part of our memory.

We are modern people and experiencing a kind of pleasure which our elders were not aware of. Is the virtual world good for the human spirituality. If you ask me, I may say Yes. Because I choose ONLY what should be seen, heard and experienced in the modern media.

Do these experiences extend our life span or make us the great individuals?

Nothing like this will happen, but unwanted pregnancies and social ills will be rampant and hurt us.

My scientific knowledge always conflicts with me when ever I think about religions and those precious principles.

The advice and valuable experiences I have had since I was a child, have changed me a person who like to cling to the Almighty for moral support.

Anyway I thank you for your cynical complements. If I were a Guru, I will be a true teacher who teach only what I supposed to teach.

cheers to Kalaiselve71

Let me hv ur evidences first Soonder, otherwise, if you will, im not up here for everyone's judgements. I have my opinions, if you dont agree its fine by me. But i am not questioning yours.

FYI, I believe in God, and i believe every religion has the same fundamental good teachings probably inspired by the divinity that touched the founder ...till ordinary people come and mess it up with their limited interpretations, beliefs and egos. Enuf said.Dont ask me again
By kaleiselvi71, 12-Aug-2009

You tell your children that "... religion is man-made" but then when they ask you why what you say is not the same as what their friends tell them, you turn on them and tell them to bring out their evidences and then also yell at them, "enough said, don't ask me again".

Sure, sure, no more questions and no more answers for you anymore.

They have got the answers they wanted from you.

To kalaiselvi71,

Thanks for our article above. Its all true. A man fight with another man for 3 things only which are money, power and women.

Look into all conflict in this country and anywhere in this world. It is must caused by either one of these 3 things. Religion was not mention in it as it came later.U should have noticed by now that even though it is generally know that the amount of knowledge available in this world has not limit, some still refer to a single book that claim to contain every little details of entire universe in it. So called book....

For the person who wants the proof, his only concern in Star blog since time in memorial is "show me the documented proof".Just have a look at my article abt "Why I drink alcohol",even with the scientific research results abt red wine, ppl still dont understand its benefit for our health. They are more concern abt money than life.

kaleiselvi71, from what I learned about my religion, the messengers are sent to preach mankind, not invent religion.
By sentulwest, 12-Aug-2009

If I cannot ask you again, then don't post again. Kapish?
1.Very obvious, isn't it? Only not so bright people will come to fixed conclusions about the attitudes of the rich and poor. Jesus Christ said that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to gain entry into the kingdom of God. Don't anybody wonder why he said so? I do. If you ask, I'll tell.
2.I agree there may not be absolutes in what's right or wrong but not that you can go around wasting people and decide it's right, 'cos the dude was asking for it. Nobody enjoys that sort of immunity. The legal system of most governments executes people for crime, not murder them. Almost all nations have declared murder, for any reason, a serious crime. The officers/enforcers of the law are another story altogether.
3. A lesson most of our politicians are in dire need of. They seem to have a poor memory.
4.No, you cannot lie and hope to get away with it. Sooner or later, the lie will catch up and you, exposed as a liar. Very, very irresponsible of you to put it the way you did.
5.Sex and religion are as different as an atom and a galaxy. Sex is about procreation and religion is about moral values and the proper attitude of seeking knowledge of God and well balanced relationships with one another. Hence, in Christianity, the cross. The vertical beam symbolizes the relationship between God and humans. The horizontal beam represents the relationship between humans and humans.

You are absolutely right . I always enjoy reading your comments, blogs etc.

Keep writing:)

They also dont teach;
1. Manners, respect, courtesy
2. How to make money
3. All religions teach good, its
the followers that are bad.
4. Negaraku means the same for all
races.

Lakshimeragu,

What is this??

"The torture and pain human get after those sins have been committed is intolerable and always poking us from some part of our memory. "

Torture and pain from who?? Did you see God inflicting those pain and torture OR fellow humans with 'I am holier than thou' judgments and prejudices?
I happen to believe and know that no compassionate God will punish e.g an unborn child or a mother (sinned or not). Humans do it to their fellow humans and blame it on God so that they can feel good about themselves. You see, that is being human, we like to think we are better than others. I'm sure you know that feeling very well. No need for more explanations. But thank you for your contributions anyway.

i am so priviledged to have the opportunity to read these arguments here and indeed i learnt alot from the wisdom of Kaleiselvi71. i don't want to add anymore arguments into these debate but i just finished readng one book that argues with substantiated reasoning that there is no proof that religion is God made. in all the holy books and scriptures , it teaches good wisdoms but some questionable. believers argued that all those words in their scriptures are descended from God but nobody can really proof it , except just believe it to be. They argument goes , IF God is so loving and all men are born sinners and only to those who believes in him will be saved from sufferings , then who can help explain why there are some believers still suffering while those non believers. Mesenger of the God said he will come again but now over 2000 years or 1400 over years , we are still waiting yet nobody can tell when ??? - AnSoN

Hi Kalaiselvi71,

Had it not been the topic which says the five things that they do not teach you at school and the following explanation which is not researched and proved, I would not have written a comment for such a blog.

Then there is a great question which states torture and pain from whom..

It is your conscience that tortures you and as a result of it you feel the pain.

What kind of a statement is it?

Sex is no more evil than religion.

How do you come to this conclusion that religion is evil? what evil does your religion do for you or anyone's religion do for them?

All your points are very immatured and childish like the view of a teen.

If you had written a good blog, I could be the first person to have appreciated you.

Please stop assuming about people whom you hardly know and you may be assumed as the person who assumes a lot about everyone and everything.

Cheers to kalaiselvi
By lakshmiregu, 12-Aug-2009

Lakshmiregu, why do i even try?

Again, argue on my points if you must but as long as you keep 'commenting' on my character from your very first 'immature' comment (God knows how you actually think you know me at all to do so) ... you are very deserving of my cynical feedbacks. Arent you the one who posted that women are doomed if they dont get married by certain age??

Anyway, for what it takes.. you ask me 'What evil religion brings?' Gosh..did you drop off the face of earth in the last few decades... im dumbfounded that people can be so clueless in this 21st century.. dont you read history at all or you proclaim that even unresearched and unevidential? Cheers to you lady or dude, whatever.

CJsavvy, i dont remember telling you not to ask again. As long as u comment on points, feel free to, kapish?

Asneoh, frankly I am hoping for such a miracle too. Maybe then for once and for all we can all clear the confusion around religions.

Johngomez, appreciate it.

sri911, very true.
By kaleiselvi71, 13-Aug-2009

Hi kalaiselvi,

Only the Almighty can decide what I am deserved to have and I am thankful to Him for everything that happened.

Deviant teaching and thoughts should be nipped off, that is what I did.

Conventional way of living is comfortable and cautious way of living and you can take many examples from my blogs and try to vest your anger on me, and I am grateful to God that I am helping someone to reduce her stress.

What we know is limited and we have to be ready to learn new things in the positive manner.

There are many flaws in the religious principles and people are working smart to rectify those.

But

What is the connection between those flaws and the flaws that you wrote in your blog? Especially at the school level.

Am I the one to wake up from the hallucination?

Cheers to you dear Kalaiselvi71

By lakshmiregu, 13-Aug-2009

Lakshimeru,

If God is Almighty, why do you take it upon yourself to do His work?
