30 years of failure from NEP, enough kah?

I think the closing statement by MCA Ong hits a home run there, "The pertinent question to be asked now is: have these people ever benefited from the NEP in the past three decades?"

The sad part is that the program has benefited only a few, whilst the mass has made little progress.

Surely, any program, after 30 years and still have not reached its target is deemed a failure. Singapore got to where it is today after 40+ years, with GDP per capita in excess of USD25,000 (depending on which source you draw from). And to think that the nation was built from sweet nothing!

It shames me, as a Malaysian, to kow-tow to those down south but I must say that in this case, it is not Malaysia Boleh, it is Singapore Boleh. May be kiasu does have its advantage after all - though I must add that I don't really condone the attitude.

Time to get a new program, one that will work for the mass (irrespective of race nor religion) and not just for the elite few. And this is not a racial thing, cause the Malay mass should realize that this is not really helping them either. Thanks to BN administration.

It is the corporate politicians of the BN who are responsible for this unjust implementation of the NEP. Hence, there is no need to be thankful to people who disregard the welfare of 85% of the rakyat Malaysia so that they can become millionaires and billionaires.
We do not need a new program. What we need is a new group of society sensitive politicians who would put priority on the welfare of the 85% rather than the pockets of the 15%.

the reason BN stayed in power for those years was because of these handouts ..which PKR maybe soon to realise if it takes over..

Kedah MB says Johor practice 60/40 for house purchase, he only use 50/50 ratio. NEP is everlasting and forever here in Malaysia. Maybe in another name, you may not aware!!
Singapore is a good example as you put, but America is even better. Very soon they are going to have a black president. So what it meants IF the correct practice is being used, the whole country progress like US and Singapore. Ask yourself is Malaysia progressing after 51 years?

yes, the Rakyat shd realise this by now that the NEP only benefits a very small portion of the Malays. Worse still is that even the "illegals" are getting a fair share. I may b wrong, but just take a look around and u will find many "Indon services", eg. plumbing, etc. The Rakyat are "simple-minded" ppl who are easily satisfied with a little hand-out. This is one of the "reasons" why the NEP has failed. So is the glaring failure of the Bumi equity. Only the Elite/connected gets the cake n eat it too. (>_<) By petersweechee, 1-Nov-2008

kalaiselvi71,
PAS do not have money to give handouts and yet the party has been controlling Kelantan since 1990. BN gave millions of money as handouts in Kelantan. But at the end of the day the people returned PAS.
Peoples trust on their leaders is a very potent political power. PKR and DAP realise this fact very well.

Some part success, some part fail. Not all fail and not all success. You've got to read more and please do not be so emotional.
And if Singapore is your version of success, please don't, for they have 2nd most emigration rate in the world after Timore Leste.

kar, all the penyangak kat BN also realise the influence of our Tok Guru Nik Aziz among the people of the great state of Kelantan and north side Terengganu. That's the reason why they keep going to Kelantan and Terengganu so much these days. Like the Tok Guru always says, ours is like water, you can never defeat its flow. Eventually, we will be there. The pretenders will surely fall.

Imallright,
Where have you been? Singapore is a version of success, with no raw material resources...they have achieved what they have now... and us in Malaysia with so much natural resources,...and yet so much wastage too....
