Why everyone asks?
It very simple equation. Don't you watch Bollywood (award) shows? Obviously our politicians do. This year in Zee Awards... some Dubai real estate bigwig awarded SRK with a 'Lifestyle Icon Award'. If you had watched his reaction, he was rather puzzled and in his acceptance speech he said though he didn't 'understand the meaning of the award', he promised to make some good out of it somehow. Ok, we all know that this fella can't act but he is charismatic plus a shrewd businessman. So a few months later.. SRK launches his mega real estate venture.. SRK Boulevard and is currently venturing into Dubai properties.. big time. So our simple simons in Melaka put 2+2=5 lah.. considering Melaka's jaded tourism.. (and you have to take an ex Finance minister's advice seriously, right?) No doubt, a desperate move. But most of our people already know 'free rides' beat working hard anytime.
But I am thinking, why not? SRK is known to be obsessed with success around his brandname.. himself. So he might make it work for his namesake. In fact, why not grant him citizenship and let him run for election.. at least will lend some Bollywood glamour to the circus that is running around now! Besides he is a lot smarter than the clowns we have.. no sex scandals.. a Muslim married to a Hindu and integrated it well.. plus he is a degree holder, talks sense, totally dedicated to his work and dig those abs! There!
