Why Grandma sang Krishna song?

I was 'enlightened' by (a) 'Lord Krisna' today as to why probably my great grandparents were Krishna worshippers. A quick search on wikipedia gv me the following info.

Yadavas and Konar - wikipedia
In Hindu mythology, Yadvas are described as the descendants of Yadu, the eldest son of King Yayati. Yayati removed Yadu from the succession because he rebelled against Yayati's wishes. Yadu and his descendants started ruling in places that are assumed to be referred to in the Hindu scriptures as Jambudvipa, and later overthrew many Puru rulers.

According to the Bhagvad Gita, Yadavas were possessors of great mystical knowledge, as far back as Manu (first man) and much knowledge was also given to Surya and Ikshavaku in ancient times. According to Dharmic mythology, Jarasandh, Kansa's father-in-law, and king of Magadha attacked Yadavas to avenge the killing of Kansa. Yadavas had to shift their capital from Mathura (central Aryavart) to Dwaraka (on the western coast of Aryavart) on the Sindhu.

Yadavs generally follow Vaishnav traditions, share Dharmic religious beliefs, and are located in different parts of India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Traditionally, the Yadavs are classified under the Kshatriya varna in Hinduism

Two things are common to Yadavs. First, they claim to be descendants of the Yadu Dynasty (Yadava) to which Lord Krishna belonged. Secondly, many castes in this category have occupations relating to cattle. The Krishna mythology lends a kind of legitimacy to the pastoral occupations relating to cattle, and as the castes following these occupations are to be found in almost all parts of India, the Yadava category encompasses a range of related castes.

Konar (meaning king)[Yadav],[1] Idayar or Idaiyan is a Tamil caste. It is a Sub Caste of Kshatriya Dhangar caste. They are distributed all round the Tamil Nadu. They are known as Yadavs in rest of India. They are one of the ancient Tamil castes. In Silapadikaram (One of the five Tamil epics)elango adigal have mentioned that Ayars(Konars of madurai)gave kannagi accommodation for somedays. They are also mostly called Idaiyars who occupied mulai lands in Tamil ancient country. Konars traditionally raise cows and goats/Sheeps and sell milk.[2] The seven Ai kings were mostly konars . Ananda kone and Krishnan Kone are one of the famous konar rulers of Tamilnadu.

They build the famous Gingee Fort in Tamilnadu. Veeran Azhagu Muthu Kone is one of the great freedom fighter from Tamil nadu. Govt. of Tamil Nadu built the Mani Mandapa (Memorial Hall) in the name of Veeran Azhagu Muthu Kone at kattalankulam in Tuticorin District.

Konar! A check with momsy revealed my great grandfather is of that origin though we are not big believers of caste system. Anyway, txx, Lord Krisna for the update;)

Interestingly, on another note, modern archeology discovered the remains of a bridge embedded in sea supposedly belonging to Ramayana era.. was it real or myth. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rama's_Bridge

Isnt this the coolest thing!!
