Wat is DDLj? For those uninitiated to the world of Bollywood, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jeyange is the most successful, longest running (600th week) love story in Hindi cinema. I watched it like 10 years ago and for a first timer to Hindi cinema, it was arresting. I dint understand the language and they were no subtitles but the actors were great at body language and i thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It was the first movie that i liked i saw more than once.
And recently there was this invitation to submit an idea for sequel and i came up with this.. can i make it to scriptwriting...?
I wrote two version in fact.. they wanted something wacky.. and WACKY is in my Aquarian nature like a second skin..
FIRST VERSION
Suggested title: Love that lasts over lifetimes..
Suggested tagline : It was a great love story to begin with.. will it end the same?
As the train leaves the platform with Raj and Simran, another train goes off track and rams into each other. The lovers are killed instantly but not before they embrace and get lost into each other’s eyes...
Up at the gates of heaven, a distraught Raj and Simran make a pact with God to be reborn. They have not completed their journey. They have an option .. to go into heaven and forget all or go back for a few more hundred years and try and find each other. But it is not going to be easy. Due to karmic twists, in a previous life 300 years before DDLJ, Raj and Simran as akashic lovers had incurred the curse of sage and be reborn as humans and suffer a tragic end and it is to repeat again unless….. they can find a way. But they have failed many times and they despair. It seemed hopeless.
Fast forward 500 years.
It’s a new world. World population is cut into half due to birth control chemicals in nature’s drinking water. But the world is a more peaceful place as it has learnt its lessons. People are more spiritual, being able to do psychic and other occult powers. Love is intense emotions. One is able to look for soulmate through technology.
Now, year 2500, Raj, 30 runs a multi-billion dollar virtual reality company in future India, a dream factory for many purposes, for memory regression, past live solutions and space travel. Taj Mahal becomes a transmission structure for space exploration.
He is terribly successful, highly intelligent and extremely charismatic. But true love eludes him. Many women come and go but he finds no real happiness. . He becomes quite cold in his heart. Even with his technology he is unable to go beyond his life in DDLJ. As a result of the sage’s curse, something blocks him every time he goes beyond that train crash 500 years ago. Subconsciously he is waiting for his Simran, he knows she is out there. He has strange dreams of meeting her in now the United Europian countrysides. He takes on a journey. His only clue.. that he will know her when he meets her.
Meanwhile Simran is also reborn in future India. She becomes a seer. Highly psychic and an empath who can feel the misery of others and extremely compassionate, she frequently puts her life on hold in order to bring others out of their psychic miseries. But the sage’s curse affects her too. There is a block on her that she may never recognize Raj. A distress call from a relative in United Europe takes her there at the same time Raj leaves for it in a teleportal.
Will they meet? Will they recognize each other?
The only problem is.. the situation is now reversed. Raj is Simran and Simran has become Raj… .

SECOND VERSION
As the train leaves the platform with Raj and Simran, the train driver has a heart attack and collapses on the buttons and gears. His assistants were thrown out of the train jus a few minutes before by Anniyan who happened to be taking the same train for serving bad food.
The train speeds downhill and runs of course and plunges into a ravine. Simran tumbles in the train with Raj trying to protect her and hits her head on a rail and goes blind. She is later saved by a tourist guide a.k.a spy (Aamir Khan) who falls in love with her immediately. While Raj is thrown out the train and falls into a ravine and breaks all his limbs. Suddenly he sees blinding light and a space ship lands in front of him and Jadoo walks out. He blacks out.
Meanwhile the families at the platform are blown up in their vehicle by a bomb set by the jealous ex-fiance.
One year later.
Raj is flying over trees with superhuman powers trying to save India from stuff. But he has short term memory loss. Jadoo was accidentally shot down by a hunter who thought he was big foot before he could restore Raj’s memory but he managed to pass some superpowers. .Unfortunately he cant remember Simran, only has nightmares of her. He tries to write things down. He leads a confused life. One day he sees Rani Mukherji walking up in her thunder thighs and short skirt on stage with a guitar and he goes Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. (KKHH tune plays in the background) He wants to marry her but she marries Abhishek, then a struggling actor who has some complexes and they end up having a miserable sex life.
Meanwhile Simran not only loses her sight but her hearing and speech as well. Her world turns BLACK. Aamir Khan hears of a retired professor who is a marvel and ropes in Amitabh Bachan to help her. Simran resists, hides under tables and licks cakes of the floor. She received good walloping from Amitabh. Aamir Khan stands by to help, gets impatient when she doesn’t improve and takes her dancing in the rain and makes a baby with her instead.
But Amitabh is disgusted and smashes Aamir’s face and leaves. Aamir takes off and never returns. Aamir eventually dies when Manisha Koirala bumps into him with bombs tied around her as a suicide bomber as per Dil Se. He becomes a spirit and he lives on a tree as a bird. He is not allowed to go back to his past life for the next 100 years.
One day he sees Rani Mukherji passing by and falls in love with her and takes on the image of Abhishek who had to leave to save a struggling dancer trying to commit suicide over him.
Amitabh returns to help Simran who still holds a candle for Aamir. She gives birth to a baby boy. Childbirth changes everything for Simran. She regains all her senses except her long term memory. She decides the most important thing is to spend time with her baby. For some unknown reason, she names her baby Raj. Life goes on. (fanaa music plays on)

If u ask me the first version holds more promise with films like krishh and paheli happening.
