The Rejuvenator!



See all these small love-shaped leaves? Quiet pretty, ain it? The really best of leaves has a refreshing fragrant to it. Its the famous daun pegaga. Or in Tamil it is vallarai. The English version is Indian Pennywort. A very important herb. Said to boost brain power. You can locate it growing wild on natural soil. You can stir fry it with a some onion or if you like sprinkle some grated coconuts and toss in some dry chillies, there u have it. Just eat it with plain rice. Or if u really want to get down to basics, just toss them into a juicer with some distilled water, pure juice that is wholly goodness.

ACCORDING to Charaka, foremost exponent of Ayurveda, Centella asiatica (scientific name) belongs to the group of herbs that help maintain youthful vigour and strength. It improves the mind's receptive capacity. It is capable of improving a person's memory power, physical strength, voice, complexion and digestive power. The herb can be made into different chutneys and eaten by diabetics and those who suffer from anaemia. Extracts of the plant are being used in the commercial production of face creams and anti-wrinkle creams. The plant grows naturally on the banks of streams and ponds and near rice fields.

It can be grown without much effort at home. Plantlets can be planted in the garden or in a large pot that is placed in the shade. The plant requires profuse watering. It gives off tender creeper-like shoots, which will soon cover the pot. The leaves can be harvested within three months.

Hence, its also called the rejuvenator!
