(ISSUES) Is it the chicken or the egg?

Is it just me and or the issues are going in reverse these days?
(jus blowin my trumpet here, but this blog got publishd as $50 winner in The Star 10/8/2006 as "who is at fault for deteriorating society" pg 50! Pppprrrrrrrrrrt! heheh!
Seriously yes, the sentiments came fr the heart!Dontcha agree?)

People robbing people, people hacking people, people killing people..youngters in school bashing up each other..we all lament what a terror our paradise of a country has come too. Its no more safe to walk in broad daylight, people are fearing for their lives while criminals are getting bolder and bolder. Victims point at offenders, public point at authorities, parents point at teachers, teachers point at system, authorities cut trees and do whatever they deem is good enough to be an appropriate action and everyone make a lot of noise and after a respite, everyone goes back to their businesses again, including the criminals........

Why is no one tackling the root of it all? What is the cause? This deterioration in social awareness. I have a point of view. Bear with me, if u can spare an evening in a local park, say a real popular one, just observe the future in making. Observe the kids interacting with others and the reactions of the parents. Out of 10 families, u'd see at least 5 families urging their kids to be selfish with the play things, hording the swings, grabbing and pushing. Its ok to step on others for ur advantage. They claim they are teaching their kids social skills and survival skills. Fair enough. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Just keep in mind, what else they are taught at home..and these kids are at an impressionable age! (well, i can already here the grunts and huffs) Then the kids go one step further and turn into gangsters and everyone is lamenting all over again!

Ok, fast forward, walk into any cyber cafe and i challenge u to spend 10 minutes just sitting in there and observing. The language spoken can even make the most liberal of us blush. Look at the social nurturing in there. Nobody's watching them. Violence is fun in there...and its brainwashed into them amidst the company, surround sound and visual effects. At least one fight break out daily in here! Yes! No kidding! The aggression level is very high! But who is monitoring them? Who cares? They are not our kids!

Fast forward. Switch on the TV. Watch the cartoons gunning down people, the action packed so called U rated movies, switch to MTV...hips gyrating, glamourous gangsters ...and the popular pop shows where the people hardly look like Malaysians or talk like Malaysias, how can a Malaysian kid identify himself...so he finds other identities...which is available to him...street culture.. .! Haiya, this is just a gist of it!

Now, tell me....just how many young minds can go through all these and come out being a balanced individual benefitting the society and nation?

So who is at fault actually for a deteriorating society? They say it takes a whole village to raise a child. Its about time we all take some responsibilty to what is going, every household, school, authorities, the higher powers that be, before things get any worse than it already is!
