Once in a while i get the Mee Curry attack! The only one you can expect to find in Pengkalan Hulu (Kroh) town area itself is at a stall next to the wet market. It is good enough to suppress the mee curry crave for a while.

I like that it is loaded up with cockles. Reminds me of the days grandma used to buy them in kilos. She'd pour boiling water to force the shells to open. Quickly we would set to work to remove the flesh before the shells close up again.. not easy task.. scorching shells and split nails. For the life of me.. I can't remember how she cooked them but do remember I didn't quite like them then...squishy and metalic in taste. But now, strangely I do. Funny how the mind associates childhood memories and food.
Back to curry me, if you really want the total experience, there is another version.. a truly potent one..served by a Thai lady in Tasek but you need to call and check if it's on the menu for the day. Rich in spices, herbs, coconut milk with generous chunks of chicken, long beans ...and chili padi so hot.. you probably end up gulping 5 glasses of iced water with tears in your eyes and running nose..and totally enjoy the experience! I dare guarantee that once you tried this, no other curry mee will ever live up to it!
