An adventure and a discovery

We were downhill to Baling last Saturday when the car brake started giving way. It was a dreadful feeling when you are speeding downhill at 100kph and suddenly the brake plays dodgy. Thank God the road was empty and I knew the stretches like the back of my palm and managed to navigate till we reached the first workshop. (I must also thank my cool poise in moments of urgency-its a God given gift) Oh well, yea, i'm so full of myself sometimes ;)

Anyway, mom suspected it maybe the brake oil but by the time we reached the workshop, the back tyre was 'smoking', a strong burnt smell. Apparently something to do with brake lining and pumps. The mechanic said it will take 2 hours to fix it. Momsy got hungry and her usual tremors so the workshop people directed us to a new food court nearby.

A Western Food court open just three weeks ago at the junction to the hospital in Baling. Now, there are so called western food courts and western food stalls...you know..Chinese oily fish and chips wannabees and roadside Malay tomyam stall impersonators with soggy chicken chops served with that awful ready made mushroom sauce.

But this one really impressed me. One is the location, in the midst of a playground and very very clean-that itself earned it extra marks from me. It is run by a bunch of good looking Malay boys garbed in professional chef get-ups with impeccable service manners plus the food is really fresh.

Momsy heartily tucked into a Garden Green Sandwich. The lettuce was actually crisp, the tomatoes plump complete with slivers of red cabbage (which is quite rare in an average Malaysian sandwich).

Kiddo settled for her tuna sandwich as usual. Instead of fries, they had crispy and fluffy wedges.

I tried their Chicken Bolognese. Nice portion, quality chicken meatballs and good sauce.

The Strawberry Blast... strawberry, yogurt and honey smoothie. Look a fresh strawberry.. a whole fruit...not bad, huh! Good hotel standard.

While aunty decided to satisfy her craving for root beer and nibble at our plates. The cat and root beer pic is not mine but apt because my aunt loves her cats!

A stuffed and satiated kid.
