Birthday 'Bash'

The plan it was, i was told last Sunday, is to give the birthday girl a surprise. (I hv long retired from the unofficial position of the resident event organiser hence clueless at first!) A.Saro, Henry, Justin and Jessica would drive down fr Ipoh. While I was 'persuaded' out of semi retirement by A.Mano to head the cooking while she helped. Fine.

Anyway.. take a look at these.. family people. Apparently this was a favourite dish of our great grandfather (grandfather to the 1st Gen).. Abimanan.. was also fav of grandfather Chinniah.. apparently the men fancy this dish. I wonder why. The origin of this dish tho is Ceylonese. It is called the Katrikai Kadayil or Palkari (Brinjal Milk Curry). Goes fantastic with spicy mutton. Jus brinjals boiled, mashed, toasted with the spices, loads of tamarind juice and thicken with coconut milk. Smashing! Comfort stuff.

Ok.. the next dish is based on Indian people's penchant for kootu stuff.. meaning combination of vegetables cooked with dhall till mushy.
I like to think I invented this combination of squash and radish. It turned out great! (carry basket) but u can always ask A.Saro and Henry for testimonies if u dont believe! (Grunt)

Ok.. i forgot to take pic of the rest.. till it was too late.. but the rest were just everyday stuff.. tofu sambal, fried bittergourd, chicken curry, pineapple salad.. wat was the 7th?

Anyway .. after a short break.. it was teatime.. Gluttony round 2. Birthday girl cuts cake.
Ok, what's wrong with this picture?

And this? Very subdued people huh? Go figure!
