A monkey's poetic attempt..

THE CURSE OF THE BLACK CROW

First it was one black crow
On the dot, it appeared in the tree
It cried, begging or cursing
For many fear the curse of the black crow
A sign of doom, unwelcomed

Then it became two
Two black crows from nowhere
Pecking at the dogs
The leftovers beckoning
Double the sign of doom, unwelcomed

Then they became five
Five black crows out of nowhere
On tree, on live wire, on gate
Crying, begging and cursing
Doom inevitable

And then came the others
Small black birds with red eyes
Eerie as they stare, little devils
Almost hell has descended
Inevitable doom, yet to come

And then one day crows cry
Endless screeches and cursings
What was that in those grasses
Something dark, something evil
Steely eyes gazed and waited

The crows and black birds
Waited no time as they battled
The slithery old thing in equal fight
But not for long, it took to flight
But not before one crow lost its life

The curse of the black crows
Feared by many, said to doom
But really, are they misunderstood
For if not for the crows brave fight
One human life, surely doomed
